Liverpool 1-3 Crystal Palace: Loss dampened occasion - Rodgers
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that the 3-1 defeat inflicted on his side by Crystal Palace dampened the occasion as Steven Gerrard played his last game at Anfield, but maintains that the overriding emotion is one of celebration for his captain.
Liverpool took the lead in the first half through Adam Lallana, but a Jason Puncheon free kick drew the visitors level before half time. Second half goals from Wilfred Zaha and Glenn Murray, who put in the rebound from his own penalty, gave the Eagles victory.
This was Gerrard's 709th game for Liverpool, his first appearance coming in 1998 as a substitute against Blackburn.
