FA Cup final folk heroes: Steven Gerrard, Matthews & more

BBC Sport takes a look at the FA Cup final performances of six players whose exploits have made them folk heroes in English football's greatest showpiece.

Sir Stanley Matthews had the 1953 final named after him, while former prisoner of war Bert Trautmann won the bravery prize three years later after playing on with a broken neck.

Another goalkeeper made the headlines in 1973 when Jim Montgomery's double save helped Second Division Sunderland lift the cup, eight years before Ricky Villa danced his way into Wembley immortality.

Dave Beasant's penalty save, external made cup final history in 1988 as Wimbledon lifted the trophy, with that honour passing to Steven Gerrard after his strike for Liverpool in 2006.
