Women's World Cup 2015: Mark Sampson praise for 'hero' Laura Bassett

England manager Mark Sampson says Laura Bassett "should be looked upon as a hero" for her World Cup performances, despite her own goal giving Japan a 2-1 semi-final victory.

With a minute of added time remaining, Bassett sliced an attempted clearance into her own net off the crossbar to settle a hard-fought game in Edmonton.

Captain Steph Houghton has "no words" to describe the defeat but is "so proud" of her teammates' World Cup endeavours.
