England: Jonjo Shelvey 'didn't refuse' England U21s call-up

Jonjo Shelvey insists that he did not refuse to play for England Under-21s and says "my dad would have killed me" if he had turned down Gareth Southgate's team.

Last autumn England manager Roy Hodgson said that the Swansea midfielder had been "reticent" about playing for the U21s after making his senior debut.

The 23-year-old has been recalled to the England squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland, having won his only cap against San Marino in 2012.
