Arsenal: Arsene Wenger says transfer inactivity due to 'shortage of solutions'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says there was a "shortage of solutions" in the transfer market following criticism of their lack of summer signings.

The Gunners were the only club from the top five European leagues not to sign an outfield player in the summer transfer window, with goalkeeper Petr Cech their only signing.

Forward Danny Welbeck's injury leaves Olivier Giroud as Arsenal's only recognised striker fit for selection, with Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez having been mainly used as wide players.
