Josh Magennis's journey from failed keeper to NI striker hero

Josh Magennis recalls his seven-year journey from being told by Cardiff City that he wasn't going to make it as a goalkeeper to scoring one of Northern Ireland's goals as they book a Euro 2016 place by beating Greece.

The Kilmarnock striker, 25, said that backing from Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill in midweek played a huge role in his performance as the boss opted to pick him in place of suspended Kyle Lafferty.

"He told me that he had been watching me for 18 months. He said to me: 'You're ready. You don't need to prove anything'," Magennis told BBC Sport after his first international goal helped book Northern Ireland's place in France..
