Watch John Barnes perform Rapper's Delight
Liverpool great John Barnes was one of the most skilled English midfielders of the past 40 years.
But he was also quite handy with the mic in his hand - who could forget his turn on Liverpool's Anfield Rap (1988) before he took it to another level for the New Order-England song World in Motion in 1990.
While he hung up his boots a long time ago, he has not retired his singing voice.
This amateur footage shows the 52-year-old ex-England midfielder perform Sugarhill Gang's 1979 smash Rapper's Delight on stage at the Heswall British Legion Club '70's disco night.
So how did this come about?
"The wife of the person who put on the event is the sister of John Barnes' wife," said Bob Robertson, whose band Freak Out Disco Band, external played as Barnes rapped.
"John had tweeted he would be at the event and suggested he would perform Rapper's Delight.
"He was up dancing all night and then got up on the stage for the last song of the night.
"He was superb. He then gave advice to our singer whose son is at the Wrexham academy. John is a really top chap and Rapper's Delight went down a bomb."
