Pat McGibbon spoke to Portadown squad before interim appointment

Pat McGibbon says that he needed to ask questions of the Portadown players before agreeing to become interim manager following Ronnie McFall's resignation after 29 years in charge.

"I needed to find out whether they were prepared to put in a shift until the end of the season," said former Manchester United player McGibbon, who had been part of McFall's backroom team.

"I told the chairman I would like to speak to the players on Tuesday night and after that I made the decision."
