Euro 2016: NI captain Davis refuses to blame McAuley for defeat

Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis refuses to blame own goal scorer Gareth McAuley for the 1-0 defeat by Wales in Saturday's Euro 2016 last-16 tie in Paris.

"We are disappointed in the manner we lost and Gareth McAuley didn't deserve that because he has been excellent and we lay no blame on him at all," said the Southampton midfielder.

"We put everything into it and had the better chances in the first half but it wasn't meant to be our day."
