Joe Gormley: Reds boss Gerard Lyttle thrilled to beat Crues to striker

Cliftonville manager Gerard Lyttle says he feared that Joe Gormley was going to sign for their north Belfast rivals Crusaders before the striker opted to return to the Solitude club.

Gormley has signed a pre-contract agreement to return to Cliftonville on a three-year deal, subject to successfully completing a medical, but won't be eligible to play until next season after already playing for Peterborough and St Johnstone this season.

The striker, who scored 122 goals in 183 appearances during an initial four-year spell at Solitude, has been unattached since quitting professional football in November.
