Croydon FC’s Ryan Hall scores stunning goal from kick-off but gets Guinness World Records blow

Croydon FC's Ryan Hall scored a stunning goal straight from kick-off in their game against Cockfosters in the London Senior Trophy.

It was timed at 2.31 seconds by the non-league side, but Guinness World Records could not confirm that it was an official record for the fastest goal scored from kick-off.

"The quality of the goal makes it all the more unfortunate to confirm that sadly we don't monitor records outside of professional football," a statement read.

"The world of football is so vast and the quality of competition varies so widely, it would be impossible for us to maintain accurate, global records for achievements outside of professional leagues, for which we rely on stats produced by governing bodies and sports performance companies.

"We of course wish Croydon the best of luck for their play-off push between now and the end of the season."

Croydon play in the Southern Counties East Football League Division One, in the 10th tier of the English national football pyramid, but the London Senior Trophy is a county cup competition organised by the London Football Association.
