Red Bull Racing's chief technical officer Adrian Newey says Formula 1's new regulations for 2014 are "questionable".

However Newey's Williams counterpart Pat Symonds disagrees, saying the new rules are "relevant to the future of the automotive industry."

The comments come on the eve of qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, after which, Formula 1's future direction will be debated by three of the sports most important power-brokers, Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemolo, F1 commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone and FIA president Jean Todt.
