Dr McKenna Cup action starts GAA season as Derry beat Antrim

The GAA season has its by now traditional early New Year start as Derry's victory over Antrim is among Sunday's Dr McKenna Cup games.

Debutant Shane Heavron scored two goals in a man-of-the-match display as the Oak Leafers defeated the Saffrons 4-16 to 2-12 at Owenbeg.

Liam McGoldrick and Emmett McGuckin with a penalty also found the net while Tomas McCann scored both Antrim goals as Derry manager Damian Barton's reign got off to a winning start.
