Watch: Cavan beat Monaghan in Ulster SFC opener
Cavan hit two injury-time goals to beat Monaghan 3-12 to 1-12 in the Ulster Championship opener at Clones.
Helped by the wind, Monaghan led 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time before Padraig Faulkner's goal helped Cavan move 1-9 to 0-10 up midway through the second half.
A Michael Hamill goal contributed to Monaghan moving two ahead early in injury-time but Cavan finished with an unanswered 2-2 as Gerard Smith finished off a superb move before Paddy Lynch rounded off his scoring haul to 1-9 with a lobbed finish to the empty Farney County net after Rory Beggan was left stranded away from his goals.
Monaghan keeper Beggan, following his stint in the US attempting to secure an NFL contact, had looked set to be the game's central character as he kicked scores and in addition to producing brilliant passes and saves but ultimately ended up on the losing side, with the Breffni men setting up a quarter-final meeting with Tyrone on 21 April.
