Manchester United star Juan Mata greets nine-year-old Alex Nield outside Old Trafford
The father of a disabled boy has described the “magical moment” Manchester United’s Juan Mata kept the team bus waiting so he could give his son a hug.
Jon Nield said he and son Alex - who has cerebral palsy - were waiting outside Old Trafford to get a glimpse of some of the players, when Mata “clocked Alex straight away and came over”.
A family friend filmed the encounter and it has become a huge hit on social media. The Spain international also contacted the club to arrange tickets for a match the following day.
“He’s absolutely made up - he probably thinks he’s best mates with him! He was so, so happy, you could see the delight in his face,” added Jon.
