Ben Spies crashes on return to action in Indianapolis

American rider Ben Spies crashes his Ducati on his return to MotoGP action during the third practice session at the Indianpolis Motor Speedway

Spies lost control as he exited Turn Four and was thrown from his bike, landing on his left shoulder. He was competing in his first event after taking a break to recover from an injury to his right shoulder

He was taken to the circuit's medical centre for his injuries to be assessed
