Diamond League: Koech narrowly misses out on world record

Kenyan Paul Koech runs the third-fastest 3,000m steeplechase of all time at the Diamond League meeting in Rome, missing out on a new world record by less than a second.

Koech's time of 7:54.33 was just 0.7 seconds slower than Saif Saaeed Shaheen's world record time of 7:53.63, and he led home an all-Kenyan top four with Abel Kiprop Mutai second in a personal best time of 8:01.67, while Jairus Kipchoge Birech and Ezekiel Kemboi were third and fourth respectively.
