Relief for mum as Sir Chris Hoy takes sixth Olympic gold

Sir Chris Hoy's mum Carol could barely watch her son compete in the men's keirin at the London 2012 velodrome, in which he went on to win his sixth Olympic gold medal.

Hoy's six golds take him past rowing great Sir Steve Redgrave's five, and with a silver from Sydney 2000 as well, he equals Bradley Wiggins's record total of seven medals.

Carol Hoy then helped proud dad David unfurl a homemade banner in honour of their son's historic win.
