Rugby League World Cup: Rangi Chase 'asked for time off'

England coach Steve McNamara says half-back Rangi Chase asked if he could go home to see his family.

The Salford Red Devils man was dropped for Saturday's World Cup semi-final against reigning champions New Zealand at Wembley.

The New Zealand-born player has been replaced by Melbourne stand-off Gareth Widdop.
