Warren Gatland will leave George North to decide his Wales future

Wales coach Warren Gatland is leaving any decision over George North's long-term Test future in the player's hands.

Speaking after Wales' 49-26 victory over Barbarians in Cardiff, Gatland said the 118-cap centre remains a key part of his immediate plans.

North has said he has no plans to retire from Test rugby unlike his long-time teammates Leigh Halfpenny, Alun Wyn Jones, Justin Tipuric and Dan Biggar.

However Gatland hinted there would be a conversation over whether the 31-year-old can make it all the way to the next World Cup in 2027.
