Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero panel in action

Amid the stunning year of sport so far, the BBC launched this year's Unsung Hero Award, to celebrate people working behind the scenes to make sport accessible to all.

The 15 Unsung Heroes were chosen by judging panels around the UK - before a panel of experts, including Paralympic gold-medallist Sarah Storey, met to decide an overall winner.

The winner will be announced during BBC Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday 16 December from 19:30 GMT.
