Sports Personality of the Year in numbers

BBC Sport looks back at some of the facts and figures from the award's long history.

The end-of-year spectacle started in 1954 with athlete Christopher Chataway winning the first ever award.

This year the event will take place in Belfast on Sunday, 20 December.
