French Open 2013: Serena Williams wants to retire at her peak

French Open champion Serena Williams says she has "never felt so fit" and would like to "continue her journey" and add to her trophy cabinet despite being 31 years of age. However, the world number one feels that when the time comes, she would like to retire while still at her peak.

Williams beat Maria Sharapova 6-4 6-4 in one hour and 46 minutes to clinch her second French Open title, 11 years after winning her first.

The American has now claimed 16 Grand Slam singles titles, moving her to within two of Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, who have 18 each.
