Excitement and terror: Laura Deas' life as a skeleton athlete

The premise of the skeleton as a sport is simple - get both yourself and the sled to the bottom of an ice track as quickly as possible.

At least that is how it was first sold to Wrexham's Laura Deas.

Five years on from her first experience on a sled, Deas now finds herself as part of the British Skeleton squad and has her sights firmly set on representing Team GB in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Sport Wales sent reporter Aly Rowell to learn more about the lightning speed of the skeleton and to find out why Laura would want to navigate around the tricky twists and turns with her head just two inches off the floor.

You can watch Sport Wales every Friday, BBC Two Wales at 19:00 GMT, or on iPlayer for seven days after transmission.
