That win for the Cubs moves them ever-closer to the Wild Card in the National League.
If the regular season finished today this is what we would be looking at. The Cubs would be up against the Padres.
No problems in the end for Kittredge as he gets the job done for the Cubs.
He strikes out Chandler Simpson to kick off the ninth, then does the same to Bob Seymour.
He then walks Yandy Diaz to give the Rays a slither of hope, but a brilliant strikeout of Junior Caminero finishes it off.
The Cubs come back for a 4-3 win and "Go Cubs Go" echoes around Wrigley Field.
Andrew Kittredge replaces Caleb Thielar as pitcher for the Cubs.
Can Kittredge close this one out?
Another pitching change as the Rays replace Edwin Uceta with Garrett Acton for the bottom of the eighth.
Acton walks Moises Ballesteros and Willi Castro in between two outs, but in the end he manages to get Reese McGuire to pop up a catch to Carson Williams at short stop to end the inning.
Can the Rays now extend this game in the final inning?
Three quick outs for the Cubs in the eighth.
Javier Assad gets Nick Fortes to ground out before he is taken out of the game for Caleb Thielbar.
The new pitcher then gets Josh Lowe and Everson Pereira to also ground out and the Rays have just one inning left to save this.
Here come the Cubs!
Singles for Willi Castro and Matt Shaw give the Cubs a chance to score and they take it.
Nico Hoerner smashes a line drive deep to left field. The ball gets stuck in the ivy at the bottom of the wall giving Castro and Shaw plenty of time to score and Hoerner has an RBI double.
4-3 to the Cubs. They've turned it around.
That all came after a pitching change for the Rays with Edwin Uceta in for Adrian Houser.
Interesting strategy at the top of the seventh here. Assad intentionally walks Junior Caminero.
That decision is nearly punished by the Rays.
Brandon Lowe line drives for a single that takes Caminero to third base before the pinch hitter Jake Mangum grounds into a force-out at second base which allows Caminero to get home.
But the run won't count! The Cubs make a challenge after Lowe looked to have obstructed second baseman Nico Hoerner. The challenge is successful and Mangum is out. The score remains 3-2.
Junior Caminero only turned 22 in July. He has added another home run today putting him within range of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s best ever season for a hitter under 23. We are about to see him at-bat again. Can he move to 45 home runs in 2025?
Ian Happ launches a flyball to centre field for the Cubs. It takes an eternity to drop out of the sky but it's over the top of the ivy on the wall and the Cubs are back in it!
Moises Ballesteros backs up that Happ home run with a single of his own but Adrian Houser manages to dig out two more outs and the Rays stay ahead as we head for the seventh.
What a legacy for Anthony Rizzo. 303 home runs, 965 runs batted in, a four-time gold glove winner.
More joy for the Rays at the top of the sixth inning.
Assad immediately walks Nick Fortes before Everson Pereira drives a single to centre field.
Pereira then steals second base to put two runners in scoring position.
Can the Rays extend their lead?
No they can't. Carson Williams strikes out before Bob Seymour is caught by Dansby Swanson and the Rays leave two runners stranded.
Javier Assad is in for Imanaga for the Cubs. Imanaga gave up seven hits and three runs but given two of those runs were on the board within five minutes of the start of this match, that's not too bad.
Adrian Houser pitching for the Rays.
Adrian Houser responds with a very efficient inning of his own.
He needs just seven pitches to record his three outs and take us to the sixth.
Shota Imanaga pitching for the Cubs.
Two more strikeouts for Shota Imanaga at the top of the fifth and that takes him to nine strikeouts this afternoon.
After a slow start Imanaga has found some real consistency and this is another clean inning.
Big defence from the Rays to finish the inning and deprive the Cubs of a run.
Houser walks Pete Crow-Armstrong to leave the bases loaded but then fields a groundball from Willi Castro and throws to his catcher Nick Fortes for the out at home base before Fortes launches to first to get Castro out.
A good start to the fourth for the Cubs.
Ian Happ singles on a powerful line drive before Moises Ballesteros also singles to left field.
Can the Cubs bring home some runs here?
Three up, three down for the Rays in the fourth as Yandy Diaz strikes out on a foul tip.
Three identical plays at the bottom of the third as the Rays stay in front.
Matt Shaw, Michael Busch and Nico Hoerner all ground out to Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe who throws each Cubs hitter out to Bob Seymour at first base.
Nick Fortes steps up with a two-out double for the Rays when Brandon Lowe was already on base.
Shota Imanaga then can't deal with a bunt from Josh Lowe and the Rays extend their lead as Brandon Lowe scores.
Imanaga gets the final out but the Rays now lead 3-1.
