The Brewers automatically advanced to the Division Series because they were the best team in the National League in the regular season, finishing with a hugely impressive 97 wins and 65 losses.

Although the Brewers finished five games ahead of the Cubs in American League Central division, the Cubs had a better head-to-head record against the Brewers by 7-6.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Aaron Judge have been among the Yankees standout performers in 2025.

The Yankees overcame the Boston Red Sox 4-0 on Thursday night to book their place in the Division Series and end the season of their bitterest rival.

The Blue Jays meanwhile have enjoyed a week off after winning the American League East ahead of the Yankees by virtue of their better head-to-head record.

Both sides finished the regular season with 94 wins to 68 losses but the Blue Jays won eight out 13 contests against the Yankees and so gained top spot and home advantage for this series.

But will that rest bring them fresh and raring to go for this series or can the Yankees ride the momentum from their victory over the Red Sox through to the next stage?

These two teams have never met in the post-season before so fans can expect a special atmosphere at the Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto.

Both these teams are blessed with extraordinary firepower in the batting line-up which suggests a high-scoring series ahead.

No team has scored more home runs this season than the Yankees (274), with Aaron Judge's 53 making him a prime candidate for the American League MVP and the added strength of Trent Grisham (34), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (31), Cody Bellinger (29) and Ben Rice (26) all contributing to a dangerous line-up.

The Blue Jays have the most hits of any team this season (1461) and the best team batting average too (.265).

In Vladimir Guerrero Jr. they have one of the great power hitters in the game who is dangerous enough for pitchers to regularly avoid.

Former World Series MVP George Springer is another key player for the Blue Jays with 32 home runs in the regular season and a strong .309 average.
