Inquiry into Plymouth Raiders mascot allegations

Plymouth Raiders have begun an investigation into claims that their mascot pulled down the shorts of an opposing player during a match.

It is alleged that Foxy, the club's mascot, pulled down the shorts of Guildford Heat's Martelle McLemore during Plymouth's 87-83 BBL Trophy win.

"There was an incident during the game," Raiders chief executive Dave Briggs told BBC South West, external.

"None of us saw what happened so we're looking ourselves to see."

It is also understood that the British Basketball League disciplinary panel has also begun an investigation into the incident, which was caught on video.

It is claimed that the incident happened during a break in play rather than whilst the ball was on court, although it was not during a time out.

McLemore's team-mate Tayo Ogedengbe said on Twitter:, external "Only in the BBL can a mascot pull down a visiting players shorts in the middle of the game, and the refs do nothing?"
