Plymouth Raiders lose 107-90 to Newcastle Eagles in BBL Cup

Plymouth Raiders felt the full force of reigning champions Newcastle Eagles as they were beaten 107-90 in the first leg of the BBL Cup semi-final.

Eagles led 27-20 after the opening quarter and never relinquished their lead as Charles Smith and Damon Huffman each got 29 points for Newcastle.

Jeremy Bell got 29 for Plymouth, but it was not enough to stem the tide as the Eagles aim to return to the final.

The second leg in Newcastle is on Friday as they defend a 17-point lead.

On Friday the Raiders moved up to fourth in the BBL Championship as they eased to a 99-17 win over second-from-bottom Sheffield Sharks.

Mike Ojo scored 23 points while Bell hit 18.
