Leicester Riders on verge of winning BBL title

Leicester Riders are on the verge of securing the British Basketball League championship title following back-to-back wins over the weekend.

Closest rivals Newcastle Eagles need to beat Worcester Wolves on Tuesday to keep alive their slim title chances.

But even if Eagles win, Riders can win the BBL by beating Durham on Saturday.

Riders beat Glasgow Rocks 84-71 at the John Sandford Centre, external on Saturday and followed that up with a thrilling overtime win in Manchester on Sunday.

Jay Couisnard was the hero in a pulsating encounter in Manchester,, external hitting a three at the end of regulation to force overtime and then scoring another three with two seconds to play in the extra period to earn the victory.

Riders had trailed by 16 points at half-time, but rallied in brilliant fashion and remain eight points clear of Newcastle with just five games to play.
