'Home floor' can help Glasgow Rocks in BBL Trophy final

Player-coach Sterling Davis hopes Glasgow Rocks can make home advantage count in Sunday's BBL Trophy final.

A sell-out 6,500 crowd will be at the Emirates Arena to see the clash with Worcester Wolves, who will start as favourites.

"To the have the opportunity to be in a final on our own floor means a lot for the guys," Davis told BBC Scotland.

"I think we definitely need it - confidence-wise, so hopefully we take advantage of it."

Worcester won comfortably on their last visit to Glasgow, dominating the fourth quarter to prevail 92-77 on league duty in November.

Last month's return fixture saw the Wolves build a 13-point lead in the first four minutes and they held on to win 89-82.

The Rocks' league form has been poor, with Davis's men sitting 10th in the 12-team table.

However, they have been formidable on the way to Sunday's final, beating Leeds, Manchester and Cheshire along the way.

"It's been a tough season for us and this tournament has been our saving grace," added Davis, who has been at the club since 2006.

Worcester, who sit second in the championship table, are drawn as the "home" team but there will be more cheers for the Rocks and Davis believes his side can cause an upset to clinch the trophy for the first time.

"We've got talent and of we play together as a team then we are pretty hard to stop," he said.

"We have a good blend of size and quickness and we have guys who can create and help out on the defensive side too.

"It's about us concentrating and making sure we are ready to go."
