Guernsey's Alison Merrien lying second in World Cup

Guernsey's Alison Merrien is lying second in her group after three rounds of the Bowls World Cup in Australia.
After losing to the USA's Dee McSparran 11-8 9-5, Merrien beat Jersey's Christine Grimes 8-5 7-6 in her second match of the tournament.
The Sarnian followed that result with an impressive 12-4 16-4 victory over Malta's Carmen Spiteri to go second in the group.
Merrien will now play New Zealand's Jo Edwards in round four on Wednesday.
In the Men's draw, having beaten South Africa's Bobby Donnelly in round one, Ian Merrien then lost to Canada's Geoff Pershick and Malaysia's Fairuz Abd Jabal.
