Defending champion Paul Foster out of World Bowls

Paul Foster failed to make it a doubles double as compensation for a shock exit in defence of his world singles title.

He and Welsh partner Kerry Packwood lost to Foster's fellow Scot, David Gourlay, and England's Debbie Stavrou 9-3 6-9 2-1 in the mixed final.

Alex Marshall and Foster had retained the men's pairs title with a 7-6, 11-1 win over Jason Greenslade and Robert Weale of Wales 24 hours earlier.

Foster had lost 9-9 7-5 to Welsh teenager Ross Owen to exit the singles.

That first-round defeat was one of the biggest shocks in years at the World Indoor Bowls Championships at Potters Leisure Resort.
