Carl Froch v Mikkel Kessler: Froch in 'superb condition'

Britain's Carl Froch says he is in the "shape of his life" ahead of his world title fight with Mikkel Kessler.

The 35-year-old IBF world super-middleweight champion faces WBA belt holder Kessler in a unification bout at London's O2 Arena on 25 May.

Froch suffered his first professional defeat when he was beaten on points by Kessler in his native Denmark in 2010.

"He's in superb condition, he always is - and there's a hunger in his eyes," said Froch's trainer Robert McCracken.

"I feel like everything is clicking in training and sparring has been fantastic, I couldn't ask to be in a better place than I am right now," said the Nottingham fighter..

"I am getting that tingle in my hands and down my spine now, I know that feeling well and it means that I'm ready to fight.

"It is such a huge occasion for me but it's nights like this where I thrive and stand up to be counted."

McCracken added: "He's very, very sharp. To be in the shape he is in five weeks out is a very good sign.

"I'm very confident he's going to do the business."

Englishman George Groves is also on the bill on 25 May, facing Uruguay's Noe Gonzalez Alcoba.

The super-middleweight, 25, says he is searching for a world title fight later in the year and will go 12 rounds with 33-year-old Alcoba.
