Luke Campbell: Olympic champion to make pro debut on 13 July

Olympic bantamweight gold medallist Luke Campbell will make his professional debut at Hull KR's MS3 Craven Park on 13 July.

The 25-year-old will fight an as yet unnamed opponent on a bill that also includes Kell Brook and Tommy Coyle.

"This is going to be a special night for Hull and a massive night for British boxing," said Campbell's promoter Eddie Hearn.

"Fans can expect more cracking fights added to the bill in the coming week."

Campbell, who finished third in ITV series Dancing On Ice earlier this year, has not boxed since winning gold last August.

He is the most decorated amateur boxer in British history and announced last month that he would be turning professional.

Brook, 27, will take on 26-year-old American Carson Jones in a rematch of their fight in Sheffield last July, which the hometown favourite won on points.

Brook had been due to fight American Devon Alexander for the IBF welterweight title but a succession of injuries to both fighters meant the Englishman had to pull out with a foot problem to be replaced by countryman Lee Purdy.

The 23-year-old Coyle, who, like Campbell, is based in Hull, is set to challenge Liverpool's Derry Mathews, 29, for the Commonwealth lightweight title.
