George Groves vows to knock Carl Froch out with a left hook

George Groves has confidently predicted he will knock Carl Froch out - and says he will do it with a left hook.

The pair will meet on Saturday in front of a post-war British record crowd of 80,000 at Wembley Stadium.

"It'll be the left hook that finishes Carl Froch on Saturday," said the 26-year-old Groves, who suffered a controversial loss to Froch last year.

"Anyone who's watched the workouts will know we've been working on left hooks and the left hook will work."

The 36-year-old Froch, who will be defending his WBA and IBF world super-middleweight titles, said the 10-year age difference between the two fighters was not a factor.

"If you're using my age as a question mark then of course I've still got what it takes," said Froch, who has taken part in 14 more professional fights than his opponent.

"I can do what I did in my 20s. Age really is just a number.

"This is by far the biggest fight of my unbelievable career. And that has given me the apprehension to go out there and win."

But Groves said he fully expected a different result to the first fight, which ended with a ninth-round stoppage.

"I'm going to go out and perform on Saturday night and become world champion and do it on the big stage looking very good doing it," he said at the final pre-fight news conference.

"In boxing you can be the most talented fighter out there but you need people to watch and I'm fortunate that I'm in that situation."

The much-hyped fight is set to break the post-war attendance record set by Ricky Hatton and Juan Lazcano, who fought in front of 55,000 fans at the City of Manchester Stadium in 2008.

But the all-time British record was set by Cornwall's Len Harvey twice in the 1930s, when he fought in front of estimated crowds of 90,000 at White City Stadium in London.
