Charlie Flynn to decide on boxing future within two weeks

Charlie Flynn has been in great demand to make personal appearances at events around Scotland since he won Commonwealth Games gold

Commonwealth lightweight boxing gold medallist Charlie Flynn, 20, has told BBC Scotland he will decide within a fortnight if he will turn professional.

"I will need to wait and see," commented the Motherwell mail worker.

"Everybody is making different offers. Over the next two weeks, I would say everything will be getting cleared up and there will be an announcement.

"The next decision I make could be the biggest decision of my life so I need to make sure I get it right."

Flynn's heroics in the ring and his post-fight remarks made him a memorable figure in this summer's Games in Glasgow.

And there seems little sign of the Lanarkshire fighter's amusing answers to interviewers' questions drying up.

Asked how he would keep training during the rush to deliver the Christmas post, he replied: "That shouldn't be a problem. A wee bit of ducking and diving in the mail, couple of early nights, get the training done.

"That's it, you're jammin'!"
