Anthony Ogogo: Olympic medallist has second Achilles operation

It has been more than four months since Ogogo had his first operation

British Olympic medallist Anthony Ogogo will be sidelined for several more months after he suffered a setback in his recovery from Achilles surgery.

The 26-year-old had hoped to continue his unbeaten professional career in February, but has needed another operation to clear infected tissue.

Ogogo hopes to be back in training by April or May.

"I'm now left with two new Achilles and I've got to build them," the Lowestoft middleweight told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"Eventually they will get up to the capacity where I can fight, train and become world champion."

London 2012 bronze medallist Ogogo, who is managed by 10-time champion Oscar De La Hoya, has won each of his seven bouts since turning pro two years ago.

But, after he pulled out of a fight in Las Vegas, he underwent surgery in September to fix chronic Achilles pain, which has persisted throughout his rehabilitation.

"It's about how my body reacts now," he said. "There's no reason why it shouldn't work. It was a much bigger job and two or three days afterwards I was in less pain than I was the first time.

"I can't wait to get back in the ring and start punching people."
