Oscar De La Hoya has won 10 world titles across six different weight divisions
American boxing great Oscar De La Hoya has confirmed that he will not be coming out of retirement.
De La Hoya, 42, a former six-weight world champion, retired in 2008, external after losing to Manny Pacquiao.
He had recently described his chances of fighting again as "50-50.", external
"After speaking to my family and following a great deal of introspection, I have decided to stay retired," De La Hoya said in a Facebook , externalstatement.
In an interview with ESPN on 22 June, De La Hoya had said he would consider a comeback because he "missed the competition of fighting the very best".
Since retiring, De La Hoya has become a boxing promoter but has also battled alcohol and drug addictions.
