Boxing promoter Frank Warren says he plans to "bring a show to the south coast" following the success of some of his Hampshire-based fighters.

Southampton super-featherweights Ryan Garner and Royston Barney-Smith both extended their unbeaten professional records with points victories at London's O2 Arena on Saturday.

The pair continue to impress on Warren's Queensberry Promotions shows alongside Portsmouth-based lightweight Mark Chamberlain, who also remains undefeated.

Garner successfully defended his WBC International title for a second time as he moved to 16-0 after a unanimous decision victory over the previously undefeated Archie Sharp at the weekend.

"I've been talking to Garner about what next," Warren told BBC Sport.

"What we will do now is bring a big event to the south coast - we've got some big stars down there so we'll do a show there hopefully before the end of the year.

"I'd want to do it for boxing because the more shows that we can put on across the country the better it is for the sport - there's obviously a big audience down there."

'The Piranha' - as Garner is known - has made no secret of where he wants to fight if one of Warren's shows are staged on the south coast.

As a boyhood Southampton fan and a regular at their home games, the 26-year-old dreams of headlining at St Mary's Stadium.

One of the barriers that may come with holding a show there is filling a venue - the largest football stadium in the south of England, outside London - which can seat 32,384 people.

"If we can do it at St Mary's then it is a no-brainer for me," Warren added.

"It's all about the venue and the size of the venue so we will have to investigate it but let's see."

Garner last boxed in Southampton at a hotel show in 2017 and has also fought at the city's Guildhall which can hold 1,749 people.

"We'll have to have a word with Frank, I think, because the turnouts are getting better each time," Garner told BBC Sport.

"It felt like the Southampton fans took over the O2 - I need a homecoming now, let's get something on."

Portsmouth's Chamberlain, meanwhile, next fights at Wembley Stadium in September on the Riyad Season London event headlined by Anthony Joshua facing Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title.

Chamberlain's past two fights have taken place in Saudi Arabia, winning both to extend his record to 16-0, including 12 knockouts.

"I'm delighted for Mark and his career so far." promoter Warren added. "I'm sure he will take every advantage of the opportunity and platform in September.

"Let's try and get all three of these guys together and on a show down in the south because that would be fabulous."
