    Over to American Abdullah Mason.

Not sure what this song is.

Interesting that Sam Noakes came out on his own but Mason is flanked by a team of five.

Mason dives into the ring between the bottom and middle rope. He's an athletic lad and was doing handstands at the open workout earlier in the work.

    Here we go.

Sam Noakes starts his walk to the ring.

Interesting song choice - Nessun Dorma. It's different but I kind of like it. Something beautiful and calming about it.

Noakes looks focussed. But why wouldn't he? It's his first shot at a world title.

Former WBC light-middleweight champion Sergio Mora speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about Abdullah Mason v Sam Noakes: "This is going to be a 50/50 type fight. Undefeated fighters fighting for a world title.

"Boxing hasn't got the worst of Mason yet. He hasn't gone through the business of boxing, losing. He's a youngster, but he's a beast."

On Monday morning, Britain had just two male world champions; WBA featherweight title-holder Nick Ball and Lewis Crocker, who has the IBF welterweight belt.

On Tuesday, the WBO confirmed that Fabio Wardley had been elevated to their heavyweight champion after Oleksandr Usyk decided to vacate the belt.

Wardley has told BBC Sport what it means to finally achieve his dream and what his plans are for the future.

If Sam Noakes and Anthony Yarde come through their bouts successfully on Sunday then we could end the week with five male British champions.

Sam Noakes' mum Sharon has been by his side from an early age - fully supporting his ambition to reach the top - but she also takes an interest in his opponents.

After Noakes beat Chris Adaway on his professional debut, Sharon took to Facebook to find the Plymouth journeyman.

"I remember around my second or third fight I bumped into Chris again and he said 'your mum messaged me'," Noakes told BBC Sport.

"I didn't know what he was on about, but I rang my mum and told her 'You can't be doing this'. She went to see his last fight.

"They've become good friends, she's definitely a Chris Adaway fan. Maybe bigger than she is a fan of me."

    Mason v Noakes

    Kal Sajad
    BBC Sport Journalist

When I spoke to Sam Noakes last year, he said if he ever wins a world title, he wants it to feel like a Rocky film - black eyes, knockdowns, the whole comeback script. He's all about earning it the hard way, and he may have to against the hugely-talented Abdullah Mason.

Sam Noakes is looking to propel himself to stardom tonight.

The 28-year-old has quietly gone about his business to piece together a 17-0 record with 15 of those victories coming inside the distance.

Noakes has held British, Commonwealth and European titles but has his sights set on the vacant WBO lightweight world title tonight.

He has never boxed on any of the big stadium shows, has only fought outside of London once and three of his last six fights have featured at the York Hall - an iconic venue with a maximum capacity of 1,250.

Tonight's ANB Arena in Riyadh only holds around 6,000 but Noakes is set to be exposed to a huge global TV audience.

    This card is absolutely stacked.

There are a combined three defeats across the eight fighters - all of those are on the resume of Anthony Yarde - with the other seven boasting undefeated records.

Devin Haney has been a champion in two weight classes, including reigning undisputed at lightweight, and is looking to win a title in a third division.

Jesse Rodriguez and David Benavidez have held belts in two divisions and Fernando Martinez is a two-time super-flyweight champion.

Is it the best card of 2026?

  20. 'Fair-weather roofer' to world title challengerpublished at 22:49 GMT 22 November

    Mason v Noakes

Shortly after winning the ABAs in 2019, Sam Noakes was approached by Francis Warren - the son of hall of fame promoter Frank - and offered the chance to turn professional.

It was an easy decision turn his back on a working life where he had jobs in a call centre, fast-food restaurant and as a roofer.

"Thinking about those jobs is what keeps me working hard in the gym," said Noakes. "I don't want to go back to that.

"The roofing was hard graft, but I was a fair-weather roofer. If it rained, you wouldn't see me.

"You can't get out of the ring when it is tough - but you can get back in the van when you're on a roof and it starts raining."
