This is my third outing to Saudi in the last six months, having made the trip for December’s ‘Day of Reckoning’ card and ‘Knockout Chaos’ in March.

Each time you experience something a little different. The atmosphere and interest from locals is on the up – there is a much bigger turnout for this event than the previous two and they seem to be genuine boxing fans. Fury and Usyk have been being chased by fans (and the tons of media) whenever they have left the fight week events.

Such is the magnitude of this fight, I’ve been told there are apparently 2,500 Britons travelling to Saudi for Saturday night.

I'm glad someone is finally talking about the weather, Kal.

It's grey skies and drizzly but 17 degrees here in Salford. I'll take that over the 35 degrees you're having to contend with!

In true British fashion, let’s talk about the weather. It was an almost unbearable 43 degrees Celsius earlier today. If you think it’s cooled down in the evening, you’re mistaken. I’m sitting in a pool of sweat with an alcohol-free mojito purchased from a street vendor.

My BBC Weather app (other weather apps are available) currently reads 35 degrees. If I suddenly disappear it’s because my laptop has melted.

Let's take a step away from the main event for a moment.

There are two other world title fights on the bill this Saturday, with Wales Joe Cordina involved in one of them.

Cordina is set to defend his IBF super-featherweight belt against Northern Ireland's Anthony Cacace and Eddie Hearn, who promotes the Welshman, feels there are some "huge fights" on the horizon if he comes through successfully.

The 32-year-old has suggested this could be his last trip to the ring as a super-featherweight if a victory doesn't lead to a unification bout.

Hearn says he has held talks about hosting a Cordina homecoming event at Cardiff Arms Park.

"When you win a world title, that's incredible, but then there is another level to go to - to prove you are the best in the division, to unify the belts, win all the belts and be involved in those massive fights," Hearn told BBC Radio Wales Breakfast.

"Joe is on the verge of that now, so this almost feels like the last hurdle for him for that."

Pretty short and sweet from Welshman Joe Cordina. He talks up the fight

“For years I thought me and Anthony would cross paths and we’re here now. I’m looking forward to a tough fight," he said.

“He believes he knows my weaknesses, I believe I know his and vice versa with the strengths. So it’s going to be a good fight.”

Very excited for this fight, I believe Fury will stop in Usyk in round 11. Fury looks sharp and that bodes well! But in the end I think the size and reach will matter! I haven't always been a Fury fan but when he's focused and the odds are against him! He finds a way to win! 7 inch reach advantage and probably 3 stone if not more weight advantage these can be telling factors in a boxing match.

A screenshot of a BBC Sport report when Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield to become the undisputed heavyweight champion

Historic fights like Oleksandr Usyk v Tyson Fury offer up a great excuse to have a little dig through the archives.

I've gone down so many rabbit holes this week and one of them was looking back at the last undisputed heavyweight bout in 1999.

That contest was, of course, in the three-belt era, when WBC champion Lennox Lewis came out on top in a rematch against Evander Holyfield, adding the WBA, IBF belts to his collection.

The world was gearing up for the new Millennium, Spice Girl Geri Halliwell sat at the top of the UK charts with 'Lift Me Up' and I was only nine. Sadly, it was well past my bedtime but I've been given permission to stay up for this weekend's bout.

So much has changed in the last 24 years but one thing remains - only one can be undisputed.

The news conference is already under way but it's going to happen in stages tonight.

There are eight fighters currently sat at the top table, including undefeated English heavyweight Moses Itauma.

Itauma, 19, has won all eight of his professional fights, with six coming via knockout, and is being tipped as a star of the future.

English featherweight Isaac Lowe is on a three-fight win streak with his last trip to the ring coming in a very different setting - the Whites Hotel in Bolton.

Queensberry's Dev Sahni will be hosting tonight's news conference. We are old school friends - shout out to The Howard School in Rainham, Kent.

Dev is known for comical quips and wind-ups, particularly on social media. I'm afraid to say I may be to blame for creating the beast. I remember Dev being a huge wrestling fan in Year Nine and knowing zilch about boxing, until I introduced him to the sport. Sorry.

While we wait to see if Kal is going to end up trying to watch this news conference while peering over a fence from the car park, let's refresh your memory on how this blockbuster bout was put together.

WBC champion Tyson Fury and WBA, IBF and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk have been on a collision course since the end of 2021.

Fury had just wrapped up his trilogy with Deontay Wilder and Usyk was fresh from beating Anthony Joshua to claim his three belts.

A proposed meeting between the two champions at London's Wembley Stadium in April 2023 collapsed when Fury failed to agree terms with Usyk.

An unexpected announcement in September 2023 confirmed a deal had finally been brokered by Turki Alalshikh, of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority - this was due to take place on 23 December.

However, those plans were derailed after Fury laboured to a win against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in October, winning what should have been a routine fight by split decision after being knocked down.

The Morecambe boxer and Usyk came face-to-face following the victory, but after the fight Fury and his co-promoter, Frank Warren, suggested it would be pushed back to 2024.

A date of 17 February was announced in November but Fury suffered a "freak" cut during a training session and the bout had to be postponed until 18 May.

If you're wondering what it's like at a boxing news conference, it's not all glamorous. I've got my own fight going on here. I'm sat next two members of the British written press and we have just been told by a huge security fella that we'll have to give up our seats when the main event starts to make space for the fighters' teams.

News conferences have a habit of being a little bit dull with fighters often going through the motions and just wanting to get out of there after a week full of media commitments.

Tyson Fury tends to buck that trend, though, and tonight should be interesting.

The Gypsy King has brought his fair share of entertainment and drama to these events over the years.

Remember Fury's news conference with Wladimir Klitschko when he arrived dressed as Batman?

How about when he sized up Deontay Wilder's ankles to jibe at his "skinny legs"?
