Summary

  1. Benn's tribute to Hattonpublished at 18:17 BST

Conor Benn has turned up to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today wearing a retro Manchester City shirt.

It is a tribute to British boxing legend Ricky Hatton. The former two-weight world champion - and huge City fan - died last Sunday aged 46.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live today, Benn said: "I can’t really process it. He was somebody who really helped me in my career but also somebody who took me in.

"Like a father figure would. He made me feel at home when I didn’t have a home.

"He meant a lot to me. Very close to me and my family."

"Forget boxing. I’m talking about him as a man. He was somebody I admired as a man," Benn added.

"He was my hero. He is my hero. It’s still hard to process now. I have no words. My love to the family."

  2. 'We are going to get the 13th round'published at 18:13 BST

Eddie Hearn, Conor Benn's promoter and Matchroom CEO, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about the first fight: “The whole event, the narrative was so glaring. The press conference with the infamous egg, Eubank Snr arriving on the night was gold. But on the night, we got a fight for the ages. I really respect what both men did that night.

“It was a physically taxing fight, there was a worry they would not do it again. But they have, and I think we are going to get the 13th round of the first fight.”

On whether Benn can win the rematch: “It was the championship rounds that gave Eubank the win, he won 11 and 12, I had the first nine level. In the ring, everyone could see the size difference and that played into Eubank’s hands. Benn now has the experience of fighting that, and he doesn’t have the inactivity beforehand. He will have learned a lot.”

Chris Eubank Jr narrowly beat bitter foe Conor Benn as one of Britain's most rancorous and long-running boxing rivalries lived up to the hype at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both fighters showed wild aggression, taking the centre of the ring and letting their hands go in a 12-round edge-of-your-seat firefight.

Neither boxer could land the telling blow but it was the experience of Eubank, 35, which prevailed as all three judges scored it 116-112.

He claimed bragging rights in a family feud which began 35 years ago when their legendary fathers first fought.

"I knew I could do that, I just needed someone to bring that out of me and I didn't think that he would be the guy to do that," Eubank said.

In a sensational plot twist, Eubank arrived at the venue alongside his father, Chris Eubank Sr.
