Daniel Dubois is talking the talk but will he walk the walk tonight?

The Briton said during Thursday's news conference: "I'm going to write my own script. They've got their script and I'll write my own. I'm going to win these belts and I'm going to be the man."

Question: What is the latest on Galal Yafai?

"We've written to the British Boxing Board of Control and the WBC. Obviously, Francisco Rodriguez should have the opportunity to have his case heard, but the fact remains Rodriguez had performance enhancing drugs in his system during that fight.

"We believe the fight should be a no contest, and Yafai should be installed as mandatory to the WBC world title

Question: Do you think there should just be one champion in each division?

"I understand the idea of one champion, but the problem is fighters will never get the opportunity to fight for a world title.

"There's some very dangerous challenges out there that will ultimately be avoided by champions. At least with the four governing bodies, more fighters get the opportunities and force unification fights.

"I don't mind the four governing bodies, I appreciate it might be a little confusing but overall I think it's good for the sport."

  6. 'Usyk wins after eight or nine rounds'published at 21:35 British Summer Time 19 July

    Usyk v Dubois 2

    Steve Bunce
    Boxing expert

Usyk wins because he's just that much smarter. I don't rule out Dubois hitting him on the chin but he'd have to do that repeatedly and I don't sense signs of decay yet in Usyk. Usyk isn't dependent on being strong and fast - he's a smart fighter - I think he could hide the decline for a few fights and get away with it. He doesn't get hit on the chin often enough to be in trouble and that won't happen in this fight. I think he wins after eight or nine rounds.

    Prediction - Usyk

Question: One fight you regret not making?

"Right now it's AJ v Fury but I am hoping there's still time. Other than that... No, pretty much made them all really!"

  8. Usyk part of exclusive clubpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 19 July

    Usyk v Dubois 2

Oleksandr Usyk is part of an exclusive club of champions who have won world titles at both cruiserweight and heavyweight.

When becoming heavyweight champion of the world, Usyk joined Evander Holyfield and David Haye on the short list.

Many said the Ukrainian was too small for heavyweight but he is now looking to unify the division for the second time.

Question: Does Jai Opetaia have plans to move to heavyweight?

"Jai Opetaia is unquestionably big enough to move to heavyweight, and I think he'll be a huge problem in that division.

"Ideally, we want to see him replicate Usyk and become undisputed at cruiserweight before moving to heavyweight, and I think that is a very real possibility."

  10. 'Dubois knows Usyk stopped him with a jab'published at 21:29 British Summer Time 19 July

    Usyk v Dubois 2

Roy Jones Jr speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "I think we will see a different Dubois. But you have to remember, when you've been in a ring with a guy, and he's already made you submit with a jab before, that guy knows that.

"Dubois may have more confidence in his punching power, but he knows that Usyk stopped him with a jab."

  11. Heavyweight boxing's biggest shockspublished at 21:28 British Summer Time 19 July

    Bobbie Jackson
    BBC Sport at Wembley Stadium

The heavyweight division can be one of the most unpredictable with one punch enough to deliver victory.

Buster Douglas' knockout out of previously undefeated Mike Tyson ranks high on the list of upset. And how about Andy Ruiz stepping in on one month's notice to beat 1-25 favourite Anthony Joshua in 2019?

If Daniel Dubois beats Oleksandr Usyk tonight it will send shockwaves through the division and probably sits somewhere below those two examples, but still a big shock!

  13. History beckoning?published at 21:26 British Summer Time 19 July

    Usyk v Dubois 2

Only 11 men have become undisputed in the four-belt era while only three have managed to do this across two weight divisions.

Oleksandr Usyk alongside Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue are these three men.

But, Usyk is bidding for history as a two-time undisputed champion, twice at heavyweight and once at cruiserweight.

Question: What is the latest on Eubank and Benn, the latest rumour is it could happen in November?

"At the moment the fight between Eubank and Benn is dead. September 20th was the date, now I believe there is some conversation about a November fight.

"Benn isn't interested in being messed around or waiting around, he would love and arguably prefer a shot at the world title. If that presented itself, then we would definitely look at that option.

"We've signed for it, so we have to give them a chance. We just appeal to Eubank, if you're not ready to go back to war with Benn and you'd rather sit at a poker table in Las Vegas, good luck to you. But let us move on."

  17. How both fighters usually winpublished at 21:19 British Summer Time 19 July

    Usyk v Dubois 2

Daniel Dubois hits hard, very hard. 95% of his 22 wins have come by way of knockout and he'll pose a huge threat.

Usyk, on the other hand, has gone the distance in 39% of his 23 victories and is much more experienced when it comes to going 12 rounds.

I can feel a stoppage coming tonight though.

Question: It seems that Anthony Joshua v Jake Paul is a serious possibility, what is your honest opinion on that match up?

"We have never targeted Jake Paul, we have never even looked at it as a possibility. But we also understand the size of the fight commercially.

"It's very likely that AJ will have a comeback fight before a potential Fury fight in 2026. If that's Jake Paul, and we got offered that fight, I can't see us turning that down.

"Obviously we would get the opportunity to evaporate Jake Paul from the world of boxing which I think would make a lot of people happy."

  19. Do the weights mean anything?published at 21:15 British Summer Time 19 July

    Usyk v Dubois 2

So, let's attempt to crunch the numbers then.

Oleksandr Usyk is only slightly heavier than his last fight against Tyson Fury - where he weighed 16st 2lb.

As for Daniel Dubois, when these two first met in Poland in 2023, the Briton weighed 16st 9lb but was a career high weight of 17st 10lb when he stopped Anthony Joshua last time out.

  20. Dubois over a stone heavier than Usykpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 19 July

    Usyk v Dubois 2

Yesterday's weigh-in was relatively tame compared to some we've seen.

Daniel Dubois hit the scales at 17st 6lb while Oleksandr Usyk came in at 16st 3lb.

Can we take anything from that at all?
