At the age of 36, Anthony Cacace continues to go from strength to strength.

He beat Joe Cordina in stunning fashion, he had too much for Josh Warrington and he was a level above Leigh Wood tonight.

  12. Round eightpublished at 22:54 British Summer Time

    Cacace v Wood

A strong start to the eighth from Leigh Wood and there's a fairly sizeable cut to Anthony Cacace's right cheek. There's blood around the Belfast man's nose too.

Is that the motivation Wood needs?

Cacace might be bleeding but he doesn't seem deterred in the slightest. The footwork is still impressive as he lands a couple of jabs and a left hook.

There's a fiery exchange just before the bell and Wood - who is starting to look a bit more urgent - raises his right glove towards his fans, but he has plenty of work ahead of him over the last four rounds.

  13. Round sevenpublished at 22:50 British Summer Time

    Cacace v Wood

Can Wood bounce back from a difficult sixth round? It's very difficult because Cacace is so accurate and clever with his feet.

That's good work by Wood with a right shot to the body but Cacace just keeps coming back stronger and faster.

He hasn't looked uncomfortable yet this evening and is moving so well.

A better round by Wood, for sure, but Cacace is leading this.

I have Anto well in front. I think he's boxing beautifully at times.

He's making it look simple but I think he's boxing out of his skin here.

  15. Round sixpublished at 22:46 British Summer Time

    Cacace v Wood

Leigh Wood comes out with plenty of intent at the start of the sixth and the pair exchange some decent shots.

Wood is throwing more punches but Cacace led 45-38 in punches landed after five rounds and there's a cracking left that leaves something on the home fighter.

Cacace goes to work and lands few more lefts - including another uppercut - and Wood seems to be feeling it a bit.

The Belfast fighter cracks a smile as the bell rings. That was a seriously impressive round from him.

  16. Round fivepublished at 22:43 British Summer Time

    Cacace v Wood

The fight still hasn't really exploded into life but Leigh Wood punches the air as the bell rings at the end of the fifth so he is evidently satisfied with his work there.

Cacace hasn't quite put the foot down since an impressive third round, but he's capable of producing some fireworks at any moment.

I have Cacace 3-1 up, the last round is the first one I've given to Leigh Wood.

  18. Round fourpublished at 22:39 British Summer Time

    Cacace v Wood

Anthony Cacace seems to block a combination from Leigh Wood, but this is a much busier round from the Nottingham man.

Wood lands an uppercut at the end of the round, too, and draws a wry smile from Cacace.

Fascinating contest here. Cacace has the better reach but Wood is finding joy with his jabs and just looks well up for it after such a long stint out of the ring.

  19. Round threepublished at 22:34 British Summer Time

    Cacace v Wood

A much livelier third round with both fighters landing telling shots.

Cacace is constantly looking to utilise his right hand. He lands a good one and then there's a beautifully executed uppercut that seems to have hurt Wood. Solid work.

The Belfast fighter has been fairly clinical so far but Wood is giving plenty back.

They touch gloves at the end of a really good round.

  20. Round twopublished at 22:30 British Summer Time

    Cacace v Wood

Leigh Wood lands a couple of nice jabs. The hometown hero is showing no signs of ring rust.

But Cacace is a highly skilled operator and lands a lovely right hand on Wood, the best punch of the fight so far.

Wood appears to land a solid shot to Cacace's body at the end of the round. Both fighters looking pretty comfortable so far. Decent fight but it hasn't fully come to life yet.
