Australia hammered Scotland in the final of the women's triples lawn bowls to take Commonwealth Games gold.

Carla Krizanic, Natasha Scott and Rebecca van Asch defeated Kay Moran, Stacey McDougall and Caroline Brown 21-12 to leave the Scots with silver.

England's trio of Katherine Rednall, Ellen Falkner and Sian Honnor beat Canada 20-12 in the bronze-medal match.

Scotland defeated England in the semis of the men's fours and face a final against Australia, who beat Wales.

Moran, from the Scottish women's triples team, declared herself "over the moon" after coming away with a silver medal, the trio having reached the final earlier in the day with a 19-7 win over Canada.

McDougall, from Dalkeith, said: "I am ecstatic to be going home with a medal."

Brown, the third member of the team, was able to celebrate a medal at her third Games.

"It was great to get the opportunity to compete again at the Games," she told BBC Scotland. "We gave it our all all the way through and I am absolutely delighted to come away with silver."
