Kieswetter hit 108 to help Somerset to victory over Gloucestershire

Somerset's Craig Kieswetter says he wants to reclaim his spot in the England one-day squad.

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who was one of England's stars in their World Twenty20 success last year, hit a century for Somerset in their CB40 win over Gloucestershire on Sunday.

"It's not just an aim for the summer, any aspiring cricketer wants to play for England," he told BBC Somerset.

"I've had a taste of that and I'm definitely keen to get back in there."

He added: "It's about playing for Somerset at the moment, putting in performances day by day and trying to help them win games."

South-Africa born Kieswetter was named in the initial 30-man England squad for the 2011 World Cup but failed to make the final cut.

He also missed out on the two T20 games against Australia in January because he needed surgery on an abscess.

But he has sent a timely reminder to the England selectors with his form for Somerset so far this season, hitting three centuries across the County Championship and CB40.

Speaking after his side's eight-wicket victory over rivals Gloucestershire, Kieswetter said: "[My form] is down to a mixture of things - quite a lot of luck. Some of the time I'm just closing my eyes and swinging as hard as I can but it seems to be paying off.

"I think I put a lot of hard yards in over the winter and at the moment I'm just trying to do the basics right and take each day as it comes."
