Lord’s replaces Cardiff for England v West Indies Test

The 2012 Test will be the 20th at Lord's between England and West Indies

Lord's has been chosen to replace Cardiff as the venue for one of the Test matches between England and West Indies in 2012.

The England and Wales Cricket Board made the decision after Glamorgan said they would be late paying the fee they owe for hosting May's Sri Lanka Test.

The county is believed to have suffered a loss of £1.5m after the first Test was affected by rain.

Next year's match will be the 20th at Lord's between England and West Indies.

MCC chief executive Keith Bradshaw said: "Lord's had made a successful bid to host one of the three scheduled Tests.

"I am personally delighted by this decision, which will be welcomed by members of MCC, other cricket followers and, I am sure, the cricketers themselves.

"While the club supports all formats of the game, it is Test cricket that remains the pinnacle of our sport."

The dates for the West Indies tour will be announced later this year, but it is scheduled to take place in May and June consisting of three Tests, three one-day internationals and a Twenty20.
