Northants opening batsman Stephen Peters and seamer Lee Daggett have signed contract extensions until the end of the 2013 season.

Daggett, 29, took 41 first-class wickets in 2011 at an average of 35.

Peters, 32, scored 864 runs in this year's County Championship, including a stand of 222 against Glamorgan in August, averaging 43.

"I view Stephen as an integral and senior part of the team," said head coach David Capel.

"He has performed well for the club over the past few years. He adds true quality to our top order batting and I am very pleased he has signed this extension.

"Lee performed well for us, especially in the first part of the 2011 season. He was well suited to the first change role in the County Championship, coming in behind Jack Brooks and Chaminda Vaas, and he played a very valuable role in the team.

"In Brooks, Vaas, Hall and Daggett, along with some other young seamers, like David Willey, coming through, I like the look of the combinations we can put together in the seam department."
