Hampshire bowler David Balcombe has signed a new three-year deal with the Second Division side.

The extension means the 26-year-old paceman will remain at the Rose Bowl until 2014.

Balcombe had a productive spell on loan at Kent last season, taking 33 wickets in five County Championship matches.

He told the club website, external: "To make this commitment to Hampshire for the next three years is fantastic. It's a young squad full of talent."

Hampshire manager Giles White added: "David's signature is an important one for the club as he adds to a growing nucleus of players that are likely to form the core of the team for a few years to come."
