County Championship Division Two, Canterbury

Gloucestershire 255 & 257-7 drew with Kent 150 & 94-2

Kent 6pts, Gloucestershire 8pts

Gloucestershire were left frustrated by the weather as they were made to play out a draw with Kent on the final day of their Division Two match.

Resuming on 191-3, the visitors added a further 66 runs before declaring and setting Kent a target of 363 to win.

Alex Gidman made 70 for Gloucestershire while Hamish Marshall hit an unbeaten 74, his highest score since July 2010.

Rob Key hit a steady 32 not out off 100 balls before the rain appeared and both sides shook hands on a draw.

VIEWS FROM THE COMMENTARY BOX

BBC Radio Kent's Matt Cole:

"Missing David Payne from his bowling attack, Gloucester skipper Alex Gidman said he'd set a cautious declaration target and so it proved.

"Kent's openers survived a nervous half hour before lunch, but there was still variable bounce to keep the visitors' bowlers and wicketkeeper interested during the afternoon - the occasional ball pea-rolling off a full length.

"The watchfulness and patience of Kent skipper Rob Key and a rain interruption around the tea interval ensured the draw, but Gloucestershire will take the moral victory as they bowled, and for the most part, batted better than their hosts."
